Canyonlands National Park is celebrating its 50th birthday during 2014 with special events throughout the year.
The main events for Canyonlands 50th take place on September 11th and 13th in Moab, with special
Commemoration and Dinner on September 12th at the Needles District in Canyonlands.

"That in order to preserve an area in the State of Utah possessing superlative scenic, scientific, and archeologic features for the inspiration, benefit and use of the public, there is hereby established the Canyonlands National Park..."

On September 12, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed legislation creating Canyonlands National Park.

The Friends of Arches and Canyonlands Parks joined by the National Park Service will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of American's most spectacular national parks.

Consider this the time to be inspired by the vast wilderness character of Canyonlands, and enjoy the solitude and adventure it offers.
